Aug. 29, 2007bmolonyFlew this one again, this time in then FSX Baron at dusk and real weather (fair, minimum winds, and good visibility). With the greatly improved FSX scenery, this is still a very nice flight with a pretty challenging approach from either direction. With light northwest winds, I selected Rwy 33. To do that, I overflew the airport and up the narrow valley to the south and into the shadow of the beautiful Mt Ranier. From there, I made a tight 180 to final. The runway is plenty long but extremely narrow even for a Baron. Hitting the center line is a necessity. However, even if I had chosen Rwy 15, I would be forced into a very steep approach over the ridge north of the field or a fairly tight right turn to a short final. Either way it is still rather challenging. Again, thanks for an excellent flight suggestion.
Dec. 07, 2004bmolonySuper nice flight. Excellent scenery and VERY challenging landing--a bit hair raising! :) Thanks for the suggestion.
