Flight description:The Rio-Sao Paulo route is the most important flight in Brazil and is served with many dayly flights from 3 majors airlines in Brazil: TAM, GOL and VARIG.
Take off from Congonhas Airport (the busiest in Latin America), fly to Rio de Janeiro and try to land a Boeing 737-700 in one of the shortest runways that can handle it (only 1342m). Try to use charts to make the real procedures and you'll see how difficult it is to land in Santos Dumont. You can also enjoy the view of one of the most beautiful approaches in the world which is surrounded by Sugar Loaf, Cristo Redentor and Rio-Niteroi bridge.

Special conditions:Fly it using the real world weather so that you can have a more realistic experience.
There's also a problem: the default scenery from Microsoft is wrong because Sugar Loaf and Rio-Niteroi bridge are too close from Santos Dumont and in reality they close, but not so much as it s in default scenery. If possible try to use the best scenery from Rio de Janeiro because it corrects it and makes many other improvements making you really feel you are flying in Rio. Nov. 25, 2011mtbike40This was a great flight. The path up the coast was nice and the approach was great. Came in on visual 20L so the big rock was not an issue for me. Could see the international airport off to the right and got a great view of downtown. Missed my first approach so got to enjoy the scenery twice. :)
Feb. 24, 2010Diverskiithe approach the atc gave me was very difficult as there was a huge rock infront of the runway which is at roughly th same hight as the glideslope - very difficuly visual landing on that approach - good though!

Jan. 08, 2006hipolito77I THINK THIS IS A FLIGHT WITH A GREAT VIEW THE ONLY THING IS THAT IS TO SHORT CAUSE WHEN YOU GET TO 31000 YOU HAVE TO DESCENT, BUT IS VERY NICE FLY OVER A BIG AIRPORT AND LAND IN THAT SMALL RUNWAY
Oct. 04, 2005PEESENHIGHLY RECOMMENDED and one of my favourites. I had the pleasure to live in Rio for a couple of months and I can tell this approach is actually tricky. Congonhas is some sort of crazy airport as well since it's located DIRECTLY in the city and has some really tall buildings in it's immediate neighborhood. One of, if not the most incredible flight to do when you like airline ops in the sim. Try the return flight, also very enjoyable. Thanks for sharing.

Aug. 14, 2005moorhenvery tricky using the 737 runway takes some finding and very short-tryed it in a prop and no problems.
