 | | Duration: | 20 minutes, gate to gate | | Flight description: | Take off from the famous courcheval airport (LFLJ) and fly to a small airport with the ICAO code of LFLI. Along the way you will fly over beautiful snow covered mountains. The arrival airport has a beautiful approach and a nice runway to land on. I used a beechcraft king air which was a nice choice. | | Special conditions: | For an extra challenge take of from LFLI again and head back to Courcheval. About halfway there cut your engines and attempt an emergency landing | | Airliner: | Unspecified | Flight number: | | | Aircraft: | Unspecified | Cruise Altitude: | | | Added by: | Minisherl | Date added: | Dec. 17, 2009 | | Rating: | (1 votes) | Views | 571 |

 | Dec. 17, 2009 | bmolony | I have flown to LFLJ a number of times in multiple previous versions of MSFS. It is nearly as challenging a destination in FSX as it is in the real world. But I had a particularly frustrating experience this time. Each time I entered the flight plan, once I reached the cockpit at LFLJ, FSX crashed. :( After 3 times, I tried other flights and other locations and had no problems. As a result, I eventually had to reverse your suggested flight and depart first from LFLI, land at LFLJ, and then return to LFLI. I used real world weather which was widely mixed en route--moderate visibility on departure and first leg, clear skies at LFLJ (thank goodness!), gradually decreasing visibility during the return flight, and then a completely socked in LFLI--visibility less than 2 miles! Without ILS, getting lined up on final was a HUGE challenge. That made your promised "beautiful approach and a nice runway to land on" a MUCH different situation. Fortunately, I was able to do it and touched down on an icy surface. Thankfully the runway was long enough to roll to a stop. All in all an intriguing flight that turned out more challenging than I expected. Thanks for the suggestion! |
